What other method can I use to update initial inventory?
An Opening balance inventory adjustment is normally made once per warehouse. It is the first inventory transaction. After the initial balance is updated, inventory is populated through purchases and other types of inventory adjustments.
What do I need before creating an opening balance?
You should have an input catalog, the available quantities, the costs, and the opening date.
Why is it so important to set a date?
The date is important because it is the point from which the initial stock will be available and you can create inbound and outbound transactions.
What happens if I record consumption before that date?
If you make an inventory transaction before that date, there may not be an available balance of the product to use in that activity.
Do I have to enter inputs one at a time?
You can enter them one at a time if there are only a few, or use the import process for larger volumes.
Can I create opening balances for several warehouses at once?
No. You must create one opening balance adjustment for each warehouse.
What happens if I leave the quantity or cost at 0?
The system will not take it into account. There can be a mix: for example, an input can have a quantity but a cost of 0. However, if the quantity is 0, the system will not take it into account.
